Reality LA

Part of our program here is that we branch out from our comfort zones and try new churches. Today's stop was Reality LA.

Reality LA is a young church that meets in a high school auditorium. The stage is set with the praise band to one side, and of course the obligatory slide show with lyrics and talking points. The band opens, the room is dark; there is a red light just bright enough that we can see them - and what an amazing sound! Here, the focus is not on the singers or the band. They are low key, but the sound and the lyrics, they carry power.

The sermon too was so enriching. The word was not watered down, by any means, instead it was an explication without shy aversion from the hard line message: We are saved by grace alone; there is nothing that we can do to save ourselves; only through Christ can we find life.

I am loving the energy and the vibe. For sure this is a church that I will return to.
